Mark U | What do you think about No Win No Fee Insurance Claims. I have been approached by a company...? |
I have been approached by a company who knew that I had had an accident back in March 2006 in Norfolk. I am from Essex and the accident was actually my fault. They are saying they will claim on my behalf but I have read bthe small print and there are loads of charges and fees which I have to pay.
Has any one had any experience with these places in the Uk, what should I do? |

Please Avoid - Avoid - Avoid
The way this kind of business operates is...
1. You actually do all the work filling in forms etc
2. If a claim is successful they will take a signficant chunk of the payout (> 60% is not unheard off)
3. If the claim is not successful you will cover their costs - yes its all there in the small print
The only "Win" will be for them.
These businesses are parasitic and unethical
Test the process by going almost all the way then decide to not to proceed.
If everyone did that it would bust the business model. |

Yes i had an accident a few years ago. Difference is i approached my local solicitor about compensation as i was going to be out of work due to a snapped ligament.(I'm a driver, the accident occuring whilst delivering to a warehouse). However, to pay for the solicitor i had to claim on my household insurance. They would only let me use a solicitor that they had to appoint. No problem, i thought.
All i had to do was give this solicitor all relevant information, time, dates, witnesses if any.My solicitor did everything, on occasion send me forms to fill out, that kind of stuff. The company i was claiming off basically said i was lying, the usual crap. Even though they were clearly at fault.
18 months down the line, i was sent a cheque, less any benefits that you may have had during time off through injury(couldn't believe that bit!).
I can honestly say it was a very stressful time, trying to get some sort of sick pay whilst injured was an absolute nightmare and still makes me very angry when i read of how easy it is for everyone else to get benefits. Even though i was off with a genuine injury! Being called a liar by the other company, getting sacked from my company because i was injured(don't even go there, i sued them too!)....a very difficult time.
Oddly enough i had my accident in Essex, where you are! |

they have cottoned on to to the American sue for everything way of life and are milking it for what its worth .old saying (if it seems to good to be true) you might get something but after they have taken the majority of your compensation for admin you might be able to buy a sandwich youve been warned!!!!!! |

It sounds like a scam to me. If you are at fault, who would the claim be filed against? Your insurance company has probably already offered you more than you would net after paying their fees. |

Personal Injury claims can go on for months, even years. You may have to visit doctors or even to court to support your claim and it can be a lot of stress. I also do not agree with this compensation culture of Great Britain. If you are out of pocket because of this injury even if in some way it was your fault then a claim may be a good idea. If your just after fast cash it will probably be more trouble than its worth. I suppose it all depends on the cost of the claim. The claims company will take a big percentage. Without knowing what kind of accident it was its hard to advise but consider whether you had to take time off work, need medical treatment (even if it was on the NHS), who was the accident reported to, Police, Rias, your employer. How could you substantiate material or emotional distress. This may give you some idea how much you could claims for and then you can decide if its worth it. |

i wouldn't go there without really looking into it...sounds like a bit of a swizzz, also if it were your fault I would just forget the whole thing, it only breeds greed and injustice. |

Stay clear of them. They will send you through to a second rate solicitor who won't win for you, in fact won't even represent you. You might be liable to pay court costs at the end of it. These people are scum. Burn the papers. |

Ambulance chasers are a pain in the ***, if you do get compensation they will either claim a percentage as a fee or try for an award plus costs. be careful! |

If it sounds to good to true don't touch them. They wouldn't have got in touch with you if they didn't think they were going to make any money of you! |

Dont Go there !!! they get there costs from winning the case ... If you lose then all those hidden costs come into effect.. ie insurance premium that you will pay up front.ETC
Also they will drag it on as long as possible to incur larger managent fees on the case ...
I say again STAY AWAY |
