I think eBay has gotten worse. Now when you enter your item, it only allows you to charge a maximum amount. I wanted to sell a game today and only allows me to charge 4. I wanted to sell the game with the strategy guide, but I can't even do that because I will lose a lot of money on shipping. Just the envelope cost 2 bucks and another 4 to ship the game alone. I havn't used ebay in a few years so this is new to me, is their anyway around this bogus policy, so I don't lose money on shipping the item. |

You could by an envelope for less than $2.
The way around the policy is to charge more for the item (increase the reserve price), so that you make enough selling the item to make up for your loss on the shipping. |

For years, people have gotten away with evading ebay fees by seriously overcharging on shipping, and underpricing the product. Example: If your game sells used at Gamestop for $10, and postage (media rate) is going to be under $3, total cost, $13, ebay would be entitled to, what, 8% of the final cost.
Instead, you list the game for $3, charge $10 for shipping, and screw ebay out of their percentage of $7. The new shipping policy eliminates that possibility.
If you need to buy $2 envelopes, add that price to the opening price of your auction. |
