What do you think of AARP as a secondary insurance verses United American?
I have United American as a secondary ins.with medicare now and was told that AARP might a better choice for me.

Truthfully, United American was outpriced in the Medicare area years ago. What I would do is shop around for your Medicare insurance. Also Look into Medicare Advantage, it's a similar to a copay plan just like a normal Health Insurance Policy, with 2/3rds the cost. If you use your med sup is used often it might be a good idea to keep your full sup if not look into your Med Adv possibilities. Honestly, I think you should speak with a licensed professional to find out exactly what YOUR needs and budget is all about.

I work with them on vehicle claims, and in my area it's Hartford. They are a really good company here and take good care of their customers. They are responsive and fair and priced competitively.

I'd go AARP!

Will is correct. United American would be the last policy that I'd get. I hear too many things. AARP is sold through United Health and they are much better than United American.

However, that being said there are many plans that I'd have over AARP. Most people are better off with the Medicare Advantage plans instead of a Med Sup. Many of those plans also include the Part D coverage so you don't need a stand alone prescription plan. Also the premium for those plans average around $27 per month in my area, and many have a $0 premium. It can get very confusing. You'd do yourself a favor visiting an independent agent that works with most if not all plans to find the best one for you. The plans and premiums are the same whether you use the agent or buy directly from an insurance company.

AARP isn't an insurance company. They don't have 'coverage'. They are a club. The club might have some insurance "recommendations" or "referrals", which will vary by state. You have to look at the plan, and the carrier, to compare it with UA.

AARP tends to endorse whoever the highest bidder is. Check carefully. It may or may not be the best deal.
