jlexie25 | What does a sales represenative at aflac do and how much is the pay? I have an interview on monday ? |
|

Monday will be the start of a long tetious journey if you want to go through it to become an Aflac agent. Aflac agents sell supplemental life insurance to small businesses.I am talking to you from experience. First is the "overview" obviously which is what you're going to do on Monday. You will be with others who were selected to attend. If you're interested you have to come in for the "interview" and you will be given a study manual to become a certified licensed agent.
You pay MONEY to sign up for the course, and study THE MATERIAL either in a class or online. Then when you're ready to "pay MONEY" again to sign up for the general insurance exam as well as the state exam for your state.
Let me tell you from experience, those exams are hard!! It's not that easy to pass from the first time.
Once you pass the test, you have to pay MONEY again to get your fingerprinting and to obtain the license. Then you undergo training and more classes.
Finally you will shadow an aflac agent until you're on your own.
You have to sell A LOT of policies to start making money. You use your own CAR, your own phone, you're not compensated for YOUR time. They make you pay for a laptop and I'm serious!! Don't count on this as a sole job to earn income! You will be in debt!
The job entails: Lots of cold calling, lots of rejection, heart breaks. I did it for two months and I quit and came out of it with big bills to pay back!!!!!
Consider this advice. Good luck. |

it is hard to do
and you have to use your own money to get your insurance license |

AFLAC specializes in marketing supplemental insurance products in the work place. I would say it takes a very dedicated and hardworking person to be successful in their business model. Most are not.
There are fees for licensing, training, and they do not reimburse you for expenses, as one joker above suggested. You are an independent contractor, responsible for your own business.
If you are looking into getting into the insurance game, you might want to consider an agency where you have support and more than one company to represent. Remember, if there was one company that had the best product at the best price, there would only be one company. |

This is commission only. If you don't sell you don't get any money.
Move on. |

It's not a bad entry into insurance sales and you'll meet some brokers that you can hopefully expand into selling other things.
It's tough going AND YOU WILL get the job unless you're a complete degenerate or you did your resume in crayon.
If you're going to go for it I'd suggest you get a part time job that you can work nights and/or weekends so you have some income coming in because you'll have little to no income for a while.
Also, prepare for LOTS of rejection because 10,000 other AFLAC agents already called on the companies you'd be calling on.
I'm not saying to not do it, but understand what you're getting into. |
|

Just Wondering
|
Go to AFLAC's website and read up. Read their annual reports. They sell insurance. |
