What does it take to become an insurance agent?

Each state has their own requirements but usually it's classroom time, then the test. You have to be finger printed and a background check run. If your state does not require classroom time such as AZ, I recommend you take it anyway. There is a lot to learn, most of which you won't use in your everyday work day.

OR, you could work for a company like I do, no lic, no classes, yet there is residual income. To be an independent contractor is only $50. Here is the web site. http://www.jobfreeforlife.com

Let me know what you think.

2. Sales & marketing skills training.

4. Lead purchasing financial power.

There is class and exam that is required. Typically it is 40 hours worth of class time, and then an exam with a required percentage to pass.

A pulse and a desire to deal with other people's life problems.

Doing the Right Thing
Take classes. Pass class exam. Pass the state exam. Now you are ready to sell insurance.

Every states requirements are different, usually there is an exam to pass. Check out www.promissor.com, it is the site for the testing company for insurance licensee's.

it takes a TON of training. and boring tests. but there are benefits.....in the end. My dad is an insurance agent, and he's got one more test to take before he's certified for everything. Its a lot of work.

You have to pass an exam and be licensed. You also have to be as vague and confusing as possible, so nobody will understand what you're saying. Then, you can sell them products that are most profitable for you, and least beneficial for them. Sorry to sound so cynical, but this has been my experience with people who work in the insurance and financial services industries. It's a rogue business. If you have good ethics and integrity, you should stay away. There's no room for you.
