What does legal cover mean in car insurance?

welcome news
It should be a separately underwritten insurance policy to cover any legal costs that may be incurred in pursuing a claim for uninsured losses (excess, injury etc) following an accident when someone else is at fault.

If you are being charged this check that the insurer/ broker is actually offering an insurance policy rather than making a charge 'because everyone else does' and then farm the work out to a local solicitor.

Get to understand some basic knowledge of your confused area before taking suggestion from others is a great idea. Here http://www.AutoInsuranceFree.info/free-auto-insurance.htm is great place to get start.

Basically you pay on average about £20 a year so that if you need to go to court. An example of this would be that you crash into someone, they get injured and try to sue you. This is covered in the legal cover normally upto £50,000 for court fees. Also useful if you and some one you crash into both think the other person is to blame for the accident.

Usually it means your legal costs are covered if some one takes you to court over an accident etc.
