amsm a | What does "subject to calendar-year deductible" mean for a health insurance plan? |
I'm applying for Anthem health insurance, it says for Office Visit, "You pay 0%; subject to calendar-year deductible". The deductible for the plan is $10,000/year. What does "subject to calendar-year deductible" mean? |

That means you have to pay the deductible amount each year before the insurance kicks in. |

I think you need to reread your policy. They may be limiting you to $10,000 per year for office visits (family plan?). $10,000 is a lot of money for anyone to pay before the insurance starts covering your costs. Anything over $10,000 in covered office visits are paid by you. |

Without reading the entire policy, it's difficult to answer with certainty. However, my first thought is that YOU will pay $10,000 worth of medical expenses out of your pocket before your insurance will cover anything. After you have accrued such amount of expense and submitted same to the insurer, THEN it will start to pay with a 0% deductible.
This sounds more like 'catastrophic coverage' than a health insurance policy. |

you have to pay your deductible for the plan before the zero percent kicks in... they should say how much each plans deductible is.. |

You may try to google it,here http://www.InsuranceFreeTip.info/insurance-for-free.htm has some direct resource that might be helpful. |

It means that the office visit cost is applied toward the $10,000 deductible as are any other services that are subject to the deductible. Once the $10,000 is met (due from you-out of your pocket) then the insurance will pay whatever their benefit amount is toward any further costs. |
