What happens after your house burns down? Who pays for what if you don't have renters insurance?
The fire-fighters said it was an electrical problem. One of my neighbor's car was damage by the fire. So, who will pay for his damages? Some of my other neighbor's had to go to the hospital. So, who'll pay for their medical bill?

Typically you would be out of luck. Depending on the policy that is on the structure, the liability insurance might extend especially if there is some negligence on the part of the owner. Might want to speak with a lawyer. Also, just because there's not any insurance, doesn't mean the owner of the property does not owe a duty to provide a safe living place. You might have to take them to court to recover some of your losses but that is always a possibility.

I assume you are a renter in the house which burned. If you do not have renter's insurance, you have just sustained a goodly sized loss, since the landlord's insurance doesn't cover YOUR possessions. That's why renter's insurance policies exist.

The neighbor's car insurance will pay for the car damage. Those who went to the hospital will have their costs covered by their health insurance carriers. The assorted insurers will fight over the responsibility after the fact.

Meanwhile, since the renter had NO insurance, there is no insurance carrier there with which to fight.

do you own the house or just rent - if you own, your insurance should take of your house damage, not sure about neighbor, renters insurance only covers your possessions and the neighbors damage is not your concern, it;s the bldg owners-if you had no renters insurance - you're out of luck getting your stuff replaced-you have to do that with your own money or maybe ask landlord to pay for some of the things, unless you caused th electrical fire somehow - overloading a circuit or something

You were renting? You will likely pay for your lost belongings. The owner's house insurance will not cover your personal belongings - that's what renter's insurance is for.

If he had fire insurance on his car - comprehensive - than his insurance will pay for it. Any neighbors who have health insurance, their health insurance will pay for it. If they don't have fire insurance on their car, or health insurance, THEY pay for it.

Just because it's YOUR house that caught fire, doesn't mean that YOU have to pay for their car and medical bills! You don't. Fires happen. It doesn't make it your FAULT.

Bad stuff happens. If you don't buy insurance, you don't HAVE insurance. Just because something bad happens, doesn't mean someone ELSE has to pay for it.

Usually who ever caused it. If it was electrical in the building, then the building owner.
