In response to one of the other answers: Canada is NOT more civilized than the US.
Like most of the other answers indicate, you will be treated and billed.
BUT, "Made in England," if you are British and an active participant in your country's national healthcare system, there may be some reciprocal agreements between England and Canada to provide you with covered emergency care while in Canada. Check with your insurance company. |

You will be treated in an emergency room, but will have to pay. Canada doesn't recognize any US health insurance.
"Visitors who seek any medical attention in Canada should be prepared to pay in cash in full at the time the service is rendered. " |

I think you would be treated, but probably not the highest priority, and you would certainly have to pay.
A quote from the Ontario (A Province in Canada) government website:
