well, if they have money for a funeral, the estate will have to pay for it. If there is no money, then they probably get the low budget special and buried without a tombstone. |

Absolutely nothing. Insurance by its nature is an aleatory contract. What that means is that the contract is activated when an uncertain event happens. In this case, there was no contract, so therefore, no coverage. |

This is not a good situation to be in... my husband died 9 years ago, we did not have any insurance! We have 6 children, the oldest was 19, and the youngest was 4 years old.
We had no money to pay for his funeral so I had to make payment arrangements for his burial... they gave me some discounts on his casket and left out a few other things... we had a bank acct. opened for donations in lieu of flowers to help with living costs until the social security survivors benefits kicked in... I had 5 kids on benefits and I got a widows benefit until I re-married. This was enough to live on though and I didn't have to work, I was able to stay home with my kids until they were older.. Life happens and it's hard when there isn't any preparations made in cases like this, so don't wait till it's too late like we did, get some insurance now! |

If your family can't help pay for a burial-they have what is called a paupers burial. I've been to a few and it was sooo sad. I took out extra life ins on me after my Mom passed. She had about $5000.00 and years ago that would of put her away nicely-but not now. My sisters and brother had to pay about $900.00 more each to finish paying for it. |

As MaggieO said, for the ones who didn't die, life keeps going and it can be a struggle if there is not enough cash to help the loved ones keep going. Depending on the situation I have seen people loose businesses, homes and have to file for bankruptcy becuase of a death of a loved one. So if this is a hypothetical question that you are asking because you're on the fence about wether or not to buy insurance, please go out a buy the insurance, the cost of the insurance is very little compared to the cost of not having it. |
