What insurance do i need when temporality disabled and pays me during disability?

david o
If you are employed, your company may offer both Long term and short term disability. This of course is before the fact, you can't sign up if you're already disabled. There are many companies that offer individual policies that will cover you and cost more as they are not "group" policies.AFLAC offers such policies as do others.Contact your Human Resource office if employed,a private company if not.Hope you never need either. If disabled because of an automobile accident or on the job, other options are available.

The others are correct.

There are many disability insurance companies but you have to have a policy before you become disabled.

Talk to an agent.

Typically if you didn't have the insurance prior to becoming disabled they will not pay on your current situation. Companies like Aflek offer different programs that will pay you money each month based on the program you pay into. Typically once you get off disability you will have to wait 6 months to a year until a company like Aflek will allow you use one of their programs

short-term disability, but in most places you need to be out at least 2 weeks before they process a claim, meaning no check for 4 weeks...red tape slow payout

kikidismom
disability insurance, or if it's a work related injury, you should be covered by workers compensation insurance. Also if your injury is from a car accident and your state has PIP (Personal Injury Protection) insurance w/ its auto policies, PIP will pay you up to 60% of your lost wages while you are unable to work up to its policy limits.
