There are many good companies but they don't all write policies in all states. Also, a company that's best for one type of life insurance may or may not be best for another type. You'll need to visit a local independent agent that works with the major plans in your area to find the best policy for your situation and budget. The agent can also help determine what face value you need. |

“Good” can only be judged by what is good for you—your specific needs. Generally, though, it’s always “good” to talk to an insurance broker. A broker works with several companies and can find the best rates and coverage for you. To find a broker in your area, log on to a website like http://www.lifeinsurancewiz.com and fill out a form requesting a free quote. Lower price does not always equal better value.

It would depend on a lot of factors. One common factor would be company strengths and ratings. The stronger the ratings the better. (Ratings = AM Best, Standard and Poors, etc.) Also, consider if that company has other interests besides insurance. Some companies have had down turns recently because they had financial interestin the credit market.
Other factors that would need to be considered are what we call underwriting factors. Each company will underwrite you a bit differently depending on your age, gender, family history, overall health, and personal history. If you would like a list of good companies to work with here are some we use.
