What is the Legal Definition of Bodily Injury in Auto Accident?
Several days ago, I was a passenger in car accident. We had the right of way at traffic light (green light), crossing the intersection and going straight and someone from Left Hand Side Ran Red Light and Hit Us. I went to the hospital for Back Pain, Knee Pain, Chest Pains and diagnosed as Severe Contusions. Does this also count towards Bodily Injury? What claim can I make, If any?

We had the right of way at traffic light (green light), crossing the intersection and going straight and someone from Left Hand Side Ran Red Light and Hit Us. The Police Report has been also obtained and other driver has been found at fault. The situation is complicated, as other driver had Unexpired Tags, Unexpired Insurance, Unexpired Registration. I went to the hospital for Back Pain, Knee Pain, Chest Pains and diagnosed as Severe Contusions (Crushing of Tissue in Knee and Chest). Does this also count towards Bodily Injury? What claim can I make, If any?

i think not as bad maybe b'coz of the high impact thats why you feel body pain and about the confusion maybe b'coz you're afraid or you're shock b'coz of the accident try to see a psychologist.

Of course it counts as bodily injury. There are several claims you might be able to file. Against the operator, the automobile manufacturer, the city or town it happened in...you name it. A real sharpie lawyer can deal out as much as you can sleep with at night. I'd go for reimbursement for out of pocket medical expenses and lost work time....maybe some punitive. Just enough to make me whole.
Others...would go for every dime they could weasel out of the operator and anyone esle the lawyer swings his axe at. Like I said..it's all about what you NEED..what you WANT and what you can sleep with.

You probably want to get a personal injury attorney, but here's some info:

+ You can go after the other drivers's insurance company for the damage to your vehicle (i.e. property damage)

+ You can also collect for bodily injury (i.e. your medical bills, lost wages)

+ You might also be able to collect for pain and suffering

As far as I know you never cross in front of a vehicle while turning left. The person to the right always has the advantage.
There are certain laws about that. 4 way stops, etc.

Point blank, sue them. Get a police report, and go from there. His fault, not yours.( unless there were drinking and/or drugs involved.) Either way, he ran a red light. Did he get fined?

YES, he ran a red light! Take care and make him pay your bills. Hope you are OK. You could really push it for aggravation, may affect your job...you said we, so I am assuming there were others in the car. I would think they could file the same.?
I am not a lawyer, but any way I look at it, He still ran a red light and caused injuries.

Legally speaking, HE caused you bodily injury.
Please do not let it go! I would sue for many reasons.
Good luck

You need to file a claim with:
Your insurance company (medical, uninsured motorist)
The company of the driver if the vehicle you were in (medical, uninsured motorist)

You don't say what state- medical could be a moot point in a no-fault state, but we all work with what we know best. Don't go running to a lawyer unless you can't get anywhere with the insurance companies directly. Good luck and get well.

Contousions are doctor talk for "pain" or "bruise".

It doesn't sound like you have serious injuries. You can claim anything you want - whether or not you'll have any offers for bodily injury settlements, well, it's hard to say. If I were the adjuster, I'd look at how badly damaged the vehicles were, snd what injuries the other people are claiming, and if damage is under $3,000 or $4,000, and no one else is injured,I wouldn't take your claim very seriously.
