There isn't a true average. But the standard deductible MOST of the time now, is $500. Some policies have as low as $100 or $50, some as high as $2500.

Increase Your Deductible. Each $500 you raise your deductible will increase your investments. Most home owners assurance online deductibles start at $250; consequently if you raise your deductible from that to $1,000, you may be able to save about 25%! However keep in mind, your deductible is the amount that leaves your pocket at time a loss happens before your home owner ins on line agency begins to recompense, so certify you can afford your deductible if you ever have to claim damage.

As a claims adjuster I see $500 and $1000 deductibles on HO claims. I don't see too many $250 deductibles any more since HO rates went through the roof a few years back.

Just make sure the one you pick is one that you can afford if you have a claim. I see a lot of people with damaged homes who don't have the $1000 deductible and then have to try to save the $1000 in order to have the repairs done correctly.

You have a choice it can be a dollar amount or a percentage of the insured value. Today most people's deductible is from $1000 to $3000.

depends on the area you live in. I'm in the coastal south east. In the upstate - deductibles range from 250.00 - 1000.00. On the coast, where hurricanes are a concern - deductibles are often a % of the loss.
