Check with your state department of public welfare. They may have a health care or medical assistance plan for you.
In my state, they have a very good program (adult basic) where you can pick up health coverage at a very low fee but there is a 18 to 24 month waiting period. However during this time you can pay for the coverage on an as needed basis.
Each state is different, check with your state first. If your state has nothing to fit you, then check with a local insurance agent (life and health) as each persons situation is different they can guide you to what plan is the best for your situation.
Going with the later solution it will depend on your current health, age and budget. |

The purpose of insurance is to protect your assets. Check with your county health department, the county hospital and the state to see if you qualify for anything from them and take real good care of yourselves. Eat healthy and get plenty of exercise. |

The best health insurance will differ depending on which state you live in and how low your income is.
Most states have programs for those with low income and every state has programs for those with very low incomes (Medicaid).
Speak with an independent health insurance agent that can show you options from multiple companies so that you can compare them and find what will work best for your needs.
Here is some more information on finding health insurance for low income families (also you can click on the site map link at the bottom of the article and then select the article on health insurance in your state for specifics about the options available to you in your state): |

You can get quotes here on regular plans through all of the local companies near you by filling out the form below. You should really have a broker work on your case and see what they can drum up. They may know about some of the low income programs in your area.
Click the link below and complete the short form. It will put you in touch with local agents in your area. I hope that helps!

If you live in California there is a government funded program called Healthy Families. It is for families who work but don't earn enough to pay for health insurance or for people who's employer's don't offer health and fit a low income criteria. I use to have it and only paid $14 a month for me and my child. |

There is no one best company and with health insurance you get what you pay for.
When you shop for a new car you have a choice between the basic low end model with no options, a fully loaded luxury car, or something in between. Health insurance is the same. If you shop for the cheapest you'll get the basic low end model which may or may not have the benefits and coverage you are looking for. Visit a local agent that works with all the major companies in your area. The agent can find the best plan for your situation and budget and can explain what you get and, more importantly, what you won't get with the plan. There is no extra charge using an agent. |

Hi. I hate to disagree, but do NOT look at Ehealth. Ehealth quotes preferred rates regardless if that is the appropriate rate class. In addition, EHealth will likely include some major stripped down plans such as Assurant's "Right Start" policy. After submitting a claim, you may be very unhappy with your choice of plans.
As suggested, check with your state for plans that may be available.
I hope this helps. |
