The best company for one type of insurance may not be the best company for another. A lot depends on you—your age, your health, your financial goals, your credit history. The best thing to do is to work with an independent insurance broker in your area. A broker works with lots of life insurance companies, instead of just one, and knows which ones offer discounts and special programs tailored to your needs. To find a broker in your area, log on to a site like http://www.homeownerswiz.com and complete the “request a quote” form. The form will go to a broker in your area who will contact you. A short list of companies that offer good policies, rates, and service:
Sentry Mutual - www.sentry.com do agent locator; very picky company, I hope you get in.
USAA - must be military or have some military tie -in
Met-Life - you'll have to search out a P&C person but they ALL sell life insurance. Was impressed with their policies, don't know about their service.
Erie - History of good service sold through independent agents. Went through a rough patch, hear their getting their act together again.

Good luck. Your best bet is to go to a local business, who is a broker for those. If your self-employed, you may want to try a local self employed "union" so to speak. You usually join for a fee and they have discount programs. Again, good luck. |

Allstate and State Farm offer life, auto and homeowners. MOST insurance companies don't offer both Life AND auto/homeowners.
There's no one size fits all best. Allstate and State Farm will NOT write policies in all states.
What's cheapest for me might not be cheapest for you. There is no shortcut - you have to do the legwork and shop around. If you're not in CA, credit score plays an important part of the rating process. |
