The premium is what you pay the insurance company for the policy.
mbrcatz
That's how much the insurance costs.

Premium is the rate an insured is charged, regarding his or her expectation of loss of risk.
The insurance company will assume the risks of the insured in exchange for a premium payment.
The premium is the money you pay to be insured by the insurance company.
For example: If you have a life insurance policy and your premium if $100 per month, you make a $100 premium payment each month in return for the insurance company to continue insuring your life.
I hope that helps! Best of luck to you.

While the simplest answer sometimes is the best I will elaborate a little further.
The premium is what you pay the insurer for accepting the risk that you are unwilling to accept yourself as a retention. In most cases we accept some retention in the form of a deductible.
If your auto is worth $25,000 and you carry $300,000 of liability insurance then the premium is the amount of money you are paying the insurer to accept the total amount of risk under the policy... In this simple example, $325,000. If your premium was $600 every six months that's what you are willing to spend to have the insurer accept that risk for you.

Your insurance premium is the amount that you pay for the insurance. You usually can select to pay your premium monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually.
Most insurance companies will give you a small discount if you pay by semi-annual or annual modes.

The premium is what they charge you. Basically it's the amount of your bill.
