What is the probation period for new employee?

"probation period" is the time soon after the joining of the an employee to the organisation during which the employment is likel to be terminated on valid reasons like failure to come out clean in background-checks, bad performance etc. If the termination happens during the probation period the employee has less legal rights to contest against the sacking.

This period varies from organisation to org. Can vary from 0-365 days.

p_dogg00
Most probation periods are three months long. That is usually the time that you also become eligible for benefits. Some places may even have a year of probation, although you are receiving benefits already.

Gerald
What ever the boss said it was.. Prob can be extended...

Depends on the company, but it's typically 90 days.

It is generally ninety days, and in some companies it could be longer. In some less skilled jobs, some companies may only use thirty days, however, the industry standard is ninety days, as that is when most of the benefits begin, such as insurance, sick and vacation days, and personal days start or kick in, and made available to the employee.

Usually 90 days, but it depends on the company. One that I worked for was 6 months.

there is no fixed period. it differs from company to company. 3 months/6month/1year... could be any period. Anyway, if and when u join a company u will be given appointment letter. It will be clearly mentioned in the letter as to what is ur probation period

Depends on the company, most are 3 mos, but civil servants, police and fireman, usually a year.

As far as benefits, that also depends on the company it could start immediatly at hire, or take up to six months.

Celeste
Depends on the business, but usually it's 90 days.
For civil workers in KS it's 6 months. However, the probationary period can be extended for various reasons.

sudhindra k
it depends of orgainization and companys hr policy.normally 3 to 6 months.

Christie
The probation period is determined by the employer. It's not dictated by any sort of laws or legal guidelines. Some are as short as 90 days and as long as a year. You should check with the employer to know for sure.

hightechchic
Unless there is a state law that mandates a maximum waiting period (which may be the case in some states), the waiting period for benefits was defined by the company at the time the original group policy was created. It can only be changed by the policy administrator, or some designated company representative.

Because of that, it's impossible to answer your question. It all comes down to what your company has designated. If you want to know, you'll have to ask HR.
