Usually you end up with store credit, and that amount is the lowest sales price that item was at.
Of course each store will have it's own policy, but I have encountered this one most otfen. |

most places will take a return with a receipt no questions asked, but some do place a time limit on the return
most places hesitate on a return without a receipt, and some will only do an exchange or in store credit without a receipt, others simply won't accept it. |

The retail store I work at will accept merchandise within 30 days if you have a receipt for an exchange. If you have no receipt you may get store credit. Most stores operate on a basis similar to this. Some will only give you store credit with a receipt and nothing without one. Having one is useful for the employees to prove you bought it at that store and aren't returning in something from another store. Check the store's website if they have one or call them and ask about their policy if you want to be sure. |

They are also getting tighter about returns esp those with no receipt .
