As far as I know it was called 'malum', which can be meant as evil (as adjective) or apple (as noun). |

In the orginial text it refers to "the forbidden" and as the translators had limited knowledge and most of the Bibles were translated from other Bibles and not the orginal texts then a lot can be missed.
The word "ate" in the text means to "Lust" this point brings into context the fact that God sees over eating, over drinking as wrong as any thing else which most churches never sees wrong in.
The fall in the garden was were they lusted for more than God and in doing so stepped over the line and brought destruction to themselves and others like all things does when we step over the line. |

I didn't think it was actually specified, just called "the fruit of the tree of life' or some such, haven't got a Bible close to hand to look up the reference in Genesis. |

They ate an apple according to our religion. But this fruit symbolizes the temptation which they were supposed to avoid. |

I don't know what this has to do with insurance, but I'm in a generous mood. Traditionally, an apple. My New American Standard translation says 'the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden'. This is some times referred to as 'the tree of the knowledge of goo and evil' or 'the tree of life'. To my knowledge, no fruit we would recognize is actually mentioned. |

It was the fruit of the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Thus it gave Adam and Eve a conscience. It was not an apple as everyone suggests. The Bible states that the Garden of Eden is forbidden to mankind and an Angel stands guard over it and the Tree of Knowledge. Thus this tree and its fruit is something unknown to us since it exists in only one place, the Garden of Eden, and we cannot gain access to it. |

The Bible doesn't specify. However most people think it;s an apple. I think Milton was the first to popularise this idea. |

Actually, its not stated that it was an apple. The bible just states that it was the fruit of knowledge of good and evil. It's just assumed to be an apple because it is derieved from the Adam's apple (people say part of the apple got stuck here) |
