The previous answers are correct. Insurance companies check for drug use - illegal as well as legal.
IF an insurance company issued a policy and your friend died in a car accident and the autopsy revealed drug use, the insurance company would NOT pay the claim. The ins company would say that your friend lied on the application.
Insurance companies do not like people who engage in risky behavior.
If your friend uses illegal drugs, he/she does not care about himself/herself. I would tell him her "we can be friends when you get your life together free from drugs. Until then GOODBYE." |

Sorry, there is probably no insurance that will be available for the person that is using illegal drugs. Usually the insurance company will require a physical examination. If someone applies for insurance, also the company will check for pre-existing conditions. If you are fortunate to buy insurance, it more than likely be very expensive. |

let me put it in simple terms.
a smoker denies being a smoker, and is admissioned for life insurance. he dies of lung cancer, although not really caused by smoking, the insurance company can void the contract null and totally, depending on the severity of the lie.
that said, a drug user can deny it and be insured, but if put to the test the insurance can get nullified, denying the person of any insurance, TOTALLY, among all insurance companies. that is how serious it can be. |
