i don't know exactly but perhaps i can give you some directions to start getting information, researching, and asking more direct questions. first i'd check with your initial paperwork, some sort of engagement letter and read through everything about case fees and expenses and billing, including, if indicated, the degree of detail to be submitted. just to have a sense of that agreement, it is not critical, but best to know what's going on first. you more than likely should be entitled to an account history of your matter. and as a client it is not unreasonable for you to be entitled to a professional explanation of anything that you don't understand. in fact, start off trying to understand, not trying to make a case against your lawyer. if there's a problem and it is not worth hiring an attorney you can probably apply to a local bar organization asking how to handle a complaint about a lawyer. |
