You only need to tell your insurance company that you use your car for business purposes. It does not cost that much more. And, I would also increase your auto insurance coverage.
Call your agent and/or company and ask. |

If you DO use your personal vehicle for business purposes, you need to discuss that with your insurance company. Some additional coverage may be required. If that results in a premium increase, then your employer should reimburse you - but that is something you'll also have to discuss with your employer. |

You need public auto liability - related to taxi and limo service.
Yes, you can buy the coverage for a privately titled vehicle, but it's EXTREMELY expensive - the liability ALONE starts at $5,000. And MOST insurance companies won't cover you at all.
Your personal auto policy cannot be endorsed, to carry people for a fee.
The way out of this, is for you to drive the family's vehicle, when carting around their client. The family can insure it MUCH cheaper than you can, as it's a family personal use vehicle. |
