Whats with online Insurance?
You keep seeing these firms on the TV advertinsing their policies and saying that if you apply online for a quote you can get a discount. Well great but aftrer you fill out all the forms it come up with some crappy excuse and give yopu a premium rate number to ring to find out the cost.Why cant they do ask they say and give the quote online.
Exactly. Online quotes don't stick. Advertised rates are "general", to say the least.
You're best off walking in to an independent agent, getting at least three quotes from different companies from them.

Part of it depends on the state that you're located in. Some states don't allow online quotes to be given, and some do - they can't start listing which ones can and can't in the advertising - too confusing - for example, Progressive couldn't give me an online quote in Michigan - they said it was against some state law.

It maybe something to do with the answer to 1 of the questions, ie age, points on licence etc,My daughter is on a provisional and 17 yrs old, wanted her as a named driver on my policy. I was quoted £1300 by 1 company then tried Tesco.co.uk and was quoted £650 might be worth a look and phone call if needed. Good Luck x
Doing the Right Thing
I don't like buying insurance online. Getting insurance is a very complicated matter. If you have questions, no one can answer them right away. You have to call customer service who probably isn't licensed to answer your question, so they'll transfer you to one of their agents. "It's like doing a heart surgery over the phone."
