u need original in more than half of the states also social security card u can obtain social security card from a local social security office and u will have to pay for ur original birth cert. from the local birth records depending on where u were born |

It depends on what state/what other proofs of ID you have. Many states work on a point system, where each form of ID is given a point value. For example, in NJ-where I live- they use the "6 point sytem" described on this website:

It can be a copy as long as it has the raised stamp on it - the "embossing" certifies that it's a legit copy. You can request copies from the state you were born in. |
