When life insurance agencies test you urine, do they look for birth control ?
and when they ask if you are on meds, does that include bcps ?

Dont tell them anything.

Im looking at my underwriting manual right now. They will find out what you are on if you used a policy to pay for it. If its cash they will never know.

Some medicines you are an automatic denial. Perscriptions for Anxiety or Depression will give you a higher rate. As I said they dont know unless you paid for the medicine with another insurance policy.

This is what happens they will check, all insurance companies share everything. Its legal and they do it. But they dont know anything that didnt go through another insurance company.

The urine test is to check for tobacco or illegal drugs. They dont really care about birth control pills.

As I said dont tell them anything. Ever. What they find out themselves is how they will price it. When they say what drugs are you taking, say thats between me and my doctor. You dont have to tell them but they dont care because if your insurance from another company is paying any part of it. They will know.

Just dont give them anything willingly.

I had to go to the ER a couple years ago. They said we need your insurance card. I said this will be less then 200 bucks. Im paying cash. You will never get my insurance card for less then that. Once its used its on a system, all insurance companies can look it up.

I had a cut finger that needed stiches. He gave me drugs for the pain. But the drug he gave me according to my manual would have been a 25% increase in my life insurance. Because its used for other things.

It never happend because they never knew. I didnt let insurance pay for it.

When they ask if you're on meds, yes that includes BCP. They don't look for it in your urine.

It's not a rating factor, so I have no idea why you're worried about it. They don't CARE if you're using BCP. But you still need to disclose it.

I don't know if they test for BC, but I doubt it. Be honest on your forms: I don't think taking BC should effect anything.

Most urine exams will not show birth control

bud68
They are looking for existing medical conditions such as diabetes and probably for illegal drugs.

RB
You will need to list the bcp's on your application. They are not a factor in the rating of your policy.

When I went through the application process for my insurance, my urine was not tested. The only 'body fluid' tested was my blood (State Farm requires an HIV test). They also check my blood pressure, that sort of thing. Whenever I asked if I'm on meds, I always mentioned my birth control pills (and usually they're the only medication I'm on). If something should happen to you (i.e. stroke, DVT, certain cancers, etc.) and this wasn't disclosed previously, they do a thorough investigation and discover this, your beneficiaries likely won't see a dime.

They are looking for whether you are or have been a smoker/drinker/drug user/abuser/diabetic. Thess are among a few other things they are interested in. I know b/c I am in the industry.

No, they don't test for them. I would just say "no" on the application since bc pills are not for an illness.

They don't test for birth control in your urine. They don't care if you are taking birth control. They do care if you take birth control and didn't disclose it on the application. What else might you be hiding? It makes you a moral risk.
