Depends what your problem is. If it's pregnancy or women's health related, you can go to the health dept. or Planned Parenthood. General non-emergency health, go to the County Health Dept (infectious diseases or immediate things like flu/colds/etc).
Free clinics take everyone.
The ER will also see anyone, but they might try to get money out of you later. If you have to go this route, arrange a payment plan with them, I heard as long as you pay some tiny amount each month, they won't ruin your credit over it. Most hospitals set aside charity money, so if you ask really nice, they can help you through this process.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, you listen to all the candidates who are running for president in 2008 and see who plans to help people who can't afford health care, then get to the polls and tell everyone you know to do the same.

You live off the government. LOTS of people do it. You won't get the best docs or hospitals - but they won't turn you away either. Go to an emergency room. And then - if you can - go get a job. We're in the U.S.A. There are LOTS of ways to get money. |

If it's urgent, you can go to a hospital and they have to treat you and worry about getting paid later, although you would still owe a bill for it. Some hospitals make special arrangements to reduce the bills of people with low incomes, but you usually have to ask. |

Hi Missy, I think all hospitals have a special unit for people who don't have medical insurance. They really cannot let a person sit out in the waiting room to die. They have to treat you. A Friend.

In the U.S. there's a health department in every county that can handle gynocological stuff and blood pressure stuff and simple things. They ussually just have R.N.s but they're free. Or go to the hospital E.R. and ask for an "indigent form" and that will cover it. In the U.S. all public hospitals are required to do a certain amount of treatment for free. The goverment reimburses them for it so don't feel guilty. If you need a doctor GO NOW ! The longer you stall the sicker you'll get the more your care will cost. PEACE. |
