Wher does the money you pay into unemployment go if you never file a claim?

That is how the other bums get unemployment. They work 3 hours every few months and live off unemployment. Just kidding. They are probably hard working people just like you that happened to fall into bad times. Even if someone else is using "your money," you would use someone else's when your time comes.

Other unemployed people

To pay the people who file claims and to support the bureaucracy that administers the claims. What's left goes for employment programs.

Melissa L
to pay other people!!! Sorry...they dont save it for you.

To all the people who do file claims - other goverment programs. Its just like auto insurance, if you need it, its there, if not - it goes into outer space

It goes to some else's unemployment. Be gald if you never have to use it but realzie that lazy bumb that won't go out andf find a job is living off your pay.

philbertpheinstein
It goes into politican's pockets. Slush funds, expense accounts, all expense paid trips, lobster and filet mignon dinners, new swimming pools, grand mansions and estates, free brand new cars with unlimited gas cards, college educations for their kids, mistresses in every city, and glory fests galore.

It depends on what state you live in, but generally it goes to someone else who files a claim. You don't get a refund when you retire or anything. All the money goes into an "account" and it is distributed to those filing claims.

That's a good question , I'd like to know too.

Actually, you are not paying into the same fund that pays unemployment claims. Check with your HR dept, they will explain it to you.

WORMWOOD
It goes to the unemployed. That is how insurance works. Just in case!

It goes into a large bankk account and gets withdrawn by the people that do file a claim. You snooze, you lose.

Hi, It seems to me that employees don't pay unemployment insurance, the employer does. It is so if you are laid off or the business closes you can collect until you find another job. I know when I closed my business that I told my employees to get down and sign up. I had been paying into it and it was theirs since I had to shut down.

mbrcatz
It's a government insurance program, and the employer is the one who pays into it . . . it goes to pay unemployment benefits for the people who put in claims for it.

It goes to pay OTHER people's claims. That's how all insurance works. You pay into it in case something happens; if nothing happens, you've paid for nothing but your peace of mind, which is the whole point.
