That sounds high for group coverage, but it will likely be higher for individual insurance.
You can find out by contacting an insurance broker. A broker works with several health insurance companies, not just one, and can find the best deal for you. Brokers need referrals and a good reputation to stay in business, so they only work with reputable companies. To find a broker in your area, log on to a website like http://www.healthinsurancewiz.com and fill out a form requesting a quote. Your info will be sent to a broker in your area who will contact you. If you make too much money for Medicaid - you might qualify for the Stated Child Health Insurance Plan. Check with your state to see if they have a program - most do.
In Nevada - (the link is below) you can still qualify for state assistance above the medicaid program. If you read the below link, it will give you an idea of what to ask for in your state. You can always contact me, and I would look your state up for you.

$332 per month for a single mom and two kids isn't bad. However, you could go to your local independent insurance agent and see what you can get for less.
Sometimes, if you are young and healthy, you can buy insurance for less than your company will charge you. This is true even if they are paying half the cost or more!
The reason is as an individual, you get a discount for being young and health. If your group is, on average, older and less healthy than you are, the group coverage may cost more.
As for finding really affordable health insurance, as in what an ordinary person can pay, you would have to move to Canada.

332 for an individual sound a little high if it is from your company. However if it covers you, your spouse and or Children then it might be good. Average good health insurance for an Individual through a company is around 80-150 per month.
For the self employed, OUCH! look out. 80 a month will only cover catastrophic accidents. No doctors visits or checkups etc... You will pay over 400 per month for self-employed individual insurance. |

It depends how much money you make. Can your budget afford it. COmpany health insurance is likely less than any individual insurance you could find. |

A private policy for a 30 year old would cost around $250 a month. So with two kids added, $332 is pretty cheap.
If you are looking for a high deductible major medical plan (which won't cover the little stuff, only if something HUGE happens), you can probably cut the cost in half. But if you're looking for prescriptions and doctor visits to be covered, the plan you have is probably the best bet. |

Take the employer coverage for yourself, and insure your children separately on a child-only policy with your local Blue Cross Blue Shield. The cost will be between $100-$200 a month. Take a high deductible to lower the cost, as most plans cover office visits, prescriptions, immunizations, physicals, and urgent care without having to meet the deductible first. |
