Who do you have your property insurance with. That would be the first place I would go. Usually it is added as a rider to a property policy. If you don't currently have homeowners insurance, you'll probably have to purchase that at the same time. Shop around different independent agencies in your area. They have access to different companies.
Be aware, a number of companies are stopping offering earthquake coverage because of the number of natural disasters lately. They want the federal government to come out with national disaster insurance like they have for floods. |

It will usually be cheaper to buy bundled. Find a homeowners insurance carrier with quake coverage. Here is a good directory to start: http://www.insuremyhouse.com |

find an insurance agent that works for an INDEPENDENT insurance brokerage firm - they can shop the various companies they represent and help you find the best coverage/cost combination to meet your needs. |

I am not sure, but whichever company you choose, you must make sure they are not based in your state. If there is an earthquake and the insurance company is located in you same state, they will lose their business and not be able to pay your claim for your house. |

You should try to get bundled coverage with your current home owners insurance provider. It is typically cheaper this way. |

"Like a good neighbour, State Farm is there". All property insurance carriers would be very happy to oblige you. Get it bundled with your home insurance. Try State Farm; they are about the cheapest but if you have your home insurance with another company, ask them about your earthquake insurance. Thank you for your question. |

I am insured with Allstate, who just changed their Earthquake coverage policy rules. Scott Peterson was very helpful in explaining how it was changing, I would recommend giving him a call for a quote. |

basically nowhere. consider this...an earthquake deductible is quoted as a percentage of your homeowner's replacement cost. For example, if your replacement cost is $300,000, your deductible (based on area and area risk) is somewhere between 5% and 20%. Therefore, your deductible is $15K to $60K...Do you call that coverage? No for my dough. If you are in a high risk area, the deductible and premium simply increase making it even harder to collect.
If you buy earthquake, it is typically a rider on your home owner's package policy as an add on. Best of luck! |

Im in Texas with all the hurricanes. I get my homeowners insurance from All State and also we have to have flood insurance which All State or any other insurance company wont handle. So we have to go through All State to get FEMA flood insurance. If a disaster does happen All State will come out and assess the damage but FEMA will pay for it. This maybe the same as in your state. So just call your insurance company that handles your homeowners insurance and ask them. Seems like earthquakes would be under natural disasters. It only cost me an extra 200 dollars a year for flood insurance so its not bad really. |

You could contact your Insurance Regulators within your state and they could provide you a listing of all companies licensed to sell earthquake insurance. Some companies cannot sell certain types of insurance within the state. |

Ive just found out from an article that you do not automatically get earthquake insurance.
Possibly the most important thing to know about earthquake insurance is this: A basic homeowners policy does not cover earthquake damage. Even if you don’t live in an area where earthquakes are common, it’s possible you might need earthquake insurance. |
