You need to clarify your definition of "cheapest" first. Are you looking for cheapest monthly premiums, or lowest deductibles? If you're healthy and never go to the doctor, you can find plans with high deductibles (1500+) with significantly lower premiums. |

Call a local agent. The policies available depend on where you live. An experienced agent can narrow down your options to one that best fits your needs, and that you can afford in just a few minutes. Avoid the online shopping, there is just simply too much information, and too many scams to watch out for.

In RI you're not going to find cheap health insurance. The cheapest would be another state as the plans and companies differ state to state. In my state I can get coverage (full coverage with maternity) for less than $200 a month all the way up to mid-50's in age. |

for a single person not thru a company group plan-expect to pay $300/mo or more - this can be lowered by increasing your deductible - also depends on what the plan covers - many options out there |

The scammers, they'll sell you a list for about $30 a month. NO guarantees, no regulation, no payouts, just a nebulous promise of a discount.
Next, come the internet people with fake policies. You can read about them at Consumer Reports online.
Next, come the limited coverage policies. For a maximum of $500 in doctor visit coverage a year, two visits, no labwork, or $1,000 for in patient hospital treatment, you can get a policy for around $100 a month.
Bottom line - with health insurance, you get exactly what you pay for. If you want to cut costs, go sit down with a local agent (so your information doesn't get harvested online and sold to multiple agents as leads), and have them show you how to balance costs and coverages. |
