The next of kin pays for the funeral or any family they have surviving. You get what you pay for, pay for a lavish funeral you get a laverish funeral. Pay for the basics you get the basics. If there is n one around to pay for a private funeral you will get a state funeral. In some places you are buried in a plain wooden box in a state cermotary with a single wooden cross. No flowers, no headstone etc. other places people are cremated. |

I don't think many people rely on life assurance (would be assurance, no payout in these circumstances with insurance). Usuallythe next of kin pays, although cost can be reimbursed from the estate if adequate.
Otherwise it's a pauper's funeral, paid for by the Council. Very basic, no extras. |
