If you collect under the other person's policy, then there is no deductible. |

If you are hit by another party and the other party is insured then your insurance does not come into play, therefore there is no deductible. If the other party is uninsured, then you have a deductible on the uninsured motorist property damage and you are responsible for it. If your insurance company is then successful in collecting damages from the at fault party, your deductible will be returned to you. |

Your deductable is your responsibility, this would pertain if you have you car fixed under your policy, optionally you could go after the responsible person which would be paid under their liability coverage. While this might seem attractive, no deductible, it's usually best to work with your insurance company, pay the deductible and they should then go after the other party for damages plus you deductible. Remember you are also entitled to a rental car for time yours is being repaired. |

The deductible on your policy is your responsibility if damages are paid thru your own policy, if you file thru the at fault parties insurance company they will have to pay for all your damages and have to provide you with a rental while your vehicle is repaired.If you file for damages thru your policy your insurance will submit for payment recovery or subrogation to the other parties insurer that process can take some time before your company can recover damages and it's not usually guaranteed, in their demand for recovery they will include your deductible and once your insurer recovers they will send you back the money. |

Deductibles in car insurance are there for the car user/owner to be more cautious when driving. It is also called the participation fee, which means, owners are required to give/shell out XX amount as his contribution to the repair of the vehicle. It is normally shouldered by the car owner. But if there's a third party involve, deducible payment should be shouldered only by either you or the third party. And this is negotiated only between the two of you. Insurance company is out of the question. . |

If they hit you, they are responsiable for the whole thing, not just the deductable. Going through the whole thing right now...But get this.. The body shop that gave the estimate and did the work mad eme beleive the guilty party was going to pay only to leave me hanging.. Now, the responsiable party says the driver did not have permission to use the car and the insurance won't pay. My insurance picked up the tab but I am stuck with a 250 dollar deductable. |
