I almost got life insurance with State Farm. I searched Consumer Reports no insurance company complaints were forth coming. I called the commissioner of Insurance and they said they no longer disclose complaints because people are complainers.
Today I find out they are the company that manipulated the law in payment of Katrina victims that lost the house.
Additional Details
I would not consider a homeowner insurance company claiming hurricane damage was not caused by wind a reputable company. I would not consider denial of claims to these people reputable. I consider it criminal morally and ethically corrupt. |

State Farce is no different from any other blood sucking society leaching giant company taking advantage of people. One common theme in today's age is that you can expect all large companies to take advantage of low and middle income people. They do it because they can get away with it. This is especially true when you have learning disabled cowboys for presidents.
State Farm will take advantage of people the same as many medium and large size businesses have grown accustom to over the last several years. American businesses do not feel any responsibility to their country so Americans are feeling less and less responsible for taking care of American businesses.
We have to hope that Foreign insurance companies come in and take over the same as the Japanese car companies have. Foreign companies understand that profits will fluctuate and that 500% profile may not be likely on a year to year basis. Toyota was the first company to introduce the slow and stead wins the race mantalitiy here in the US. GM and Ford may never rebound. |

state farm is terrible. they have always done whatever they had to do to try to avoid claims. my cousin was dropped by them because "she was hit' by too many people. lol isn't that the crap, too many people ran into her. I think it was like 3, she never had a ticket but they dropped her any way. |

ALL insurance companies, unless they are having financial problems, pay the claims that they are bound to pay. If the policy covers it, and there's a covered loss, they pay.
State farm is a very reputable company. they are the #1 writer of auto insurance in the U.S.
The only companies I would hesitate to buy insurance from are the ones rated "C" or less, (with "A+" being the best rating) with A.M. Best. A.M. Best rates insurance companies on their financial ability to pay claims.
To try to answer "Dave's" complaint about State Farm dropping his cousin because she had "been hit" about 3 times by another driver, I would like to ask a question.
Did State Farm have to pay? Is this the reason she was canceled? in an at-fault state, if her policy paid, she was at fault, so the company paid to repair the other person's car, and hers, if she has collision coverage. If she is a no-fault state, and whether it was her fault or not, her policy pays 3 times to repair her car. I don't blame the company for dropping her. She's an accident looking for a place to happen.
State Farm was not bound to pay for flooding during the Katrina episode. Homeowners policies do not cover flood damage. Flood insurance is bought seperately through the NFIP (National Flood Insurance Plan). Some independent agents can write this coverage.

State Farm doesn't sell flood insurance. That's not a news flash here, NO homeowners policy covers flood.
Katrina was 3 years ago, you're a bit behind on the times.
BUT, State Farm is the largest personal insurance writer in the USA, and as the lowest percentage of "upheld complaints". An Upheld Complaint, is where the insurance commissioner decides that the insurance company is WRONG.
Yep, lots of people complain, and most of them are wrong. But TX insurance department still lists UPHELD complaints on their website.
Oh, I've never sold for State Farm in my life - but my personal insurance is through them. |
