Gypsy Gal | Why are Insurance company paying for underage girls to have babies ? |
That should not be happenings then we as a whole have to pay more for insurance?Let the parents pay for the unwed babies not the insurance company? |

I'd rather the insurance companies pay for underage girls to have babies than for the government to allow innocent unborn children to be murdered in the name of convenience. |

I don't think, by law, that the insurance company can discriminate against an insured person based on their age.
If the girl is already covered by the insurance carrier, and there is maternity coverage in the health insurance policy, there is no way they can not cover her pregnancy based on her age. |

Babies can be born without cost, and have for millenia. The insurance companies are paying for the health care that leads up to and beyond the birth, rather than paying for the actual act of having babies.
I believe that regardless of age, mothers and their children are entitled to the health care that will help them be as safe and healthy as possible.
The insurance companies pay because that is the agreement they made and the also the reason they collect premiums. |

Because insurance policies are contracts, and if the company refused to pay, they would be sued.
Instead of trying to save money there, maybe we should provide a surcharge for people that eat potato chips. |

Parents buy insurance and underage girls are covered under their parent's policies. Generally, people who have insurance are paying extra for most procedures anyway since there are so many who do not have insurance. I pay $4000 for health insurance and still have to pay for services!
I know somebody who is homeless and that person's health coverage is free period! And there are more and more of these people who are becoming homeless every day. Eventually we all will be because the cost of maintaining a life and the availability of life saving procedures will drain finances of everyone eventually.
Believe me, at the rate it is going, it is all gonna equal out to nothing in the end for all of us. Medical procedures will drain the complete economy within the next 30 to 50 years and a capitalist society that we started out in will become communist, something we all tried to avoid.
Basically, by spreading out the wealth into the poorer classes including immigrants and uninsured, we have put the burden on the middle class with the eventuality that the middle class will disappear. Outpatient services for the middle class including heart and cancer treatments are huge expenses even for those who have insurance! We are talking thousands if not a million once the ball gets rolling on a sick person with modern tests and procedures, and the average middle class person does not have that kind of cash. Their insurance will not pay much more than 80% of their expenses.
Only 1 million families in the US make 500k per year and there are only 7 million or so millionaires. The rest of us, about 300 million are destined to be drained to the rich detriment of those who have the wealth now.
If the parents have insurance, they are paying.
And what about the unwed mothers that have babies after they leave their parent's insurance? They have the state pay if they don't have the money. |

Why not? They pay for old married ladies like me to have babies. There's no legal age limit for having babies, and there's no law against unmarried women having babies.
If you want to penalize people for their behaviors with higher health insurance costs, there are a lot of other places I'd start, before putting innocent newborns at risk. |
