Why do some people in US refused to buy Health Insurance policy?
Are there free health care for the poor in US?

because they do not have the money !

Most people don't refuse to buy insurance they just can't afford it. There are some free clinics and children can sometimes get on a federal program for health care but adults are pretty much on their own.

leonard s
for a lot of people its a choice between rent or health insurance they cannot have both. If you work(any job) there is no governement health care,ZERO. poor children have some free health care but not much.

Because health insurance is very expensive. Do you have 600-800 to pay per month for a health insurance policy?

Kate
Pathetic pathetic pathetic....and disgusting in my opinion...

SHAME on the american GOV'T

booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

There is free health care for the poor in the States, but you need to be REALLY poor - there's strict income requirements. The middle class always gets screwed. That's why there's so many uninsured Americans. The premium on a plan for one person can be $500 a month, and if you make $1500 a month, that's a big chunk of your income.

Health Insurance in the United States is still a free market business sector, though government is increasingly encroaching and, thereby, raising costs. Many, like myself, believe the expenses, due to the way it is marketed, are too high for the value delivered. Yes, some CAN'T afford the insurance, but most, actually, that do not take insurance in the US, prefer to spend the money on other things or invest it for a more profitable return and remain "self-insured".

The impoverished, in the United States have acute and chronic health care anyway, through government subsidies. (Which means other people pay for them). Health Insurance has become unbalanced by too many people that have immediate and/or chronic need vs. persons who have the insurance but do not need it yet. This drives up the cost/benefit ratio and many of us, therefore, place our limited financial resources in areas that have, for us, a higher value.

Occasionally you see a charity clinic in the big cities, but they don't stay around for long - can't afford to stay in business.

So generally, people in the US refuse to buy health insurance because 1. they're here illegally, and want to "stay below the radar" or 2. they're young & healthy, and think nothing will happen to them, so they want to save the money for a new car 3. They just can't afford the premiums, with all their other living expenses or 4. they were young & healthy and thought nothing would happen, but it did, so now no private insurance company will cover them.

Because health insurance is to much example my shop offers health insurance for my family it would be 165 a week. My families doctor & hospital fees in a year average are about 2000 less than what I would pay the health ins Not including the copays & such!! I would rather put this money in the bank & collect the interest myself.

Sal
While some people cannot afford it, I believe many people choose not to afford it. Instead they buy other things, its a matter of priorities - the beautiful thing for these people is that in an emergency they will still get medical help regardless of their insurance status.
