pwb67220 | Why does'nt "NationWide" Pay Claims in A timely fashion? |

Well, there are state regulations for fair claims practices that give a certain amount of time to pay a claim. But, all duties on your part would have to be met too, did you do everything that was asked, do all the paperwork, provide your official statement, whether recorded or written? This is if you are the policyholder. If you are a claimant, the company has no obligation to you. You didn't say what type of claim this is. There are so many variables. Was it a complicated multicar pileup? That could take a long time, there are witness statements, accident reconstruction, police report with probably a big investigation attached, etc. Was it a homeowners claim? Please provide more details & you will get a better answer. |

wow that surprises me...are there extenuating circumstances to the claim? i was rear ended about a month ago by someone who had nationwide and i did not have a single problem with them. my car was fixed in a very timely manner and they paid for my rental car the whole time. call the adjuster and talk to him and see whats holding it up |

With all insurance companies, they are trying to make sure they have all of the facts and documentations before paying out. If they pay out on a claim and it wasn't the clients fault, then it is a timely process it getting corrected and the client ends up with higher rates due to a claim. If it is a auto accident then the adjuster has to review all statements from all parties involved. Make sure that you do complete your paper work in a timely manner and return all phone calls, I know adjusters can be a pain to contact, but they do return your voice messages, just make sure you leave your name, claim number, and a phone number or two. If you continue to have problems with the claim, ask questions and for explanations from the adjuster-ask your agent for assistance. Typically the insurance companies do try to pay as soon as possible, but occasionally paper work and people do get in the way of getting it closed in a timely manner. Adjusters like to get claims taken care of ASAP, if they don't their work load just keeps building up. ALWAYS, remember if you have a question about your insurance contact your agent, that is what agents are there for. |

Why don't you provide them with the information they need in a timely fashion? |

It could be because the longer they delayed the more interests they'll earned on their monies left in the bank or the lesser interests they'll be charged if they need to loan from banks. |

Kind of a double standard here, they wouldn't let you pay them late, so it should go both ways. |
