Why is it whenever you call an insurance company or the state you are always on hold for like an hour?
Are they extremely understaffed or really busy or what???

Carrie
mostly understaffed and usually busy at the same time .... the highest call volume is 11-2 in the afternoon at around 5 (or whenever they close), esp on monday and tuesdays

Ms Yang
Call centre are always understaffed. Worked in a bank before. Employers expected to take 17 calls per hours. Over worked under paid. =) Can understand where u are coming from.

Call at odd hours like in wee hours or lunch hours... usually waiting time shorter.

Longest waiting time usually during office hours (dunno why) but I guess most act busy during office hours opps hee =)

When people shop for insurance they always want the best price. When people are using insurance they always want the best coverage. In your case, you want the best service. In business, companies compete on price, quality, and service. A company can be the best in only 2 of those categories. If they have great customer service and great quality, then some other company will always beat them on price because it cost more to provide that service and quality. If you want shorter hold times, don't shop on price alone. There are plenty of insurance companies that charge more than you are paying and I'm sure many of them will have better customer service.

This is where having an agent can really help. If the agent is any good, the resources to be able to call beyond the help center is available.

Most of the time they are both understaffed AND busy.
