thanks.
Get onto your solicitors. I work in a firm of solicitors and although claims can take years never known one to go on that long

Four years is relatively long, but not that bad. Has suit been filed? The litigation process could be slowing any potential settlement. Since the insurance company has hired an expert, it is likely that they are contesting liability, and need the expert report to support their position. If liability is being contested, settlement, if any, may not be considered for quite some time.

If you are expecting a big payout they are probably checking up on you.
I had a claim in for a car accident and that went on for around 3 years during which I was followed and filmed.
Work with your solicitor to push the reports through and put some pressure on!

OMG thats AWFUL...4 years!!!! I ony waited just under a year and my claim was settled, Ive never know anyone to wait this long! I would say your solicitor is dragging his heals and getting paid for the pleasure....find out where you stand through the Citizens Advice, they should be able to help you with advice about possibly changing solicitor?
Good Luck!

This is how these companies make their money. They drag out the process with unessisary action, which cost money, a part of which they claim back.
