Not only fat people, but lazy, drug-taking welfare people and illegal immigrants who don't pay taxes. All of us will suffer for the benefit of a few. |

So, you don't mind if rich fat people make insurance rates go up, but you don't just want to pay for POOR fat people? The ones who will have to DIE because they can't afford their diabetes treatment?
A mugger could make money by killing you and looting your house, the house which you choose to keep valuables in, making it your fault... Is he any more justified than you are for believing people should die so you can save money? Just as people can choose to be fat but nobody chooses diabetes, you can choose to keep valuables in your house and carry money, but you don't choose to be robbed or murdered for it. |

what about children who will die without healthcare? |

this is how the Democrats buy our votes. Soon they will start to outlaw things they consider unhealthy because it will cost us money. this is a bad thing. |

I don't agree with UHC either, but why the judgement of others. I would bet money that you do something that is a "risk" to your health on a daily basis like:
smoking
drinking
not wearing a seatbelt
inhaling smog
eating too much salt/caffeine/sugar/etc, etc
driving recklessly
not sleeping enough (bad for health)
not drinking enough water
eating red meat
not wearing 45+ spf (skin cancer, hello)
And those are just examples. AND THEY ALL AFFECT YOUR HEALTH!
So get off that cross, boy. |

And when you get sick, and your provider cuts you off your policy, or refuses to renew without a 1000% increase in premiums, I am quite sure somebody will say they don't want their taxes to help some bozo that manages to get sick. You have absolutely no idea what universal health care means, obviously.
Every country with universal health care, by the way, the people have longer life expectancy than the people in the US. If you want to check the stats, they are available from such US sources as the CIA factbook.
Just for the record, I don't like my tax dollars paying for skinny anorexics and bulemics, either, but the nature of universal health care is that everybody gets help from everybody else. |

Wow... you're a pretty angry dude! I'm not fat, but I do have friends that are overweight. They aren't poor and they have health insurance. I do in fact know someone quite well who weighs 90 pounds wet and she's on welfare, she's single, and on Medical Assistance. Her state paid drug treatment program is over $2,000. a month! Actually I know a lot of women like that since I work at the court house (hands of hope). My friends who are overweight actually uh, didn't choose to be overweight. Depression, thyroid, sadness, compulsiveness, eating disorders... who the hell would choose that? Who would choose to have dumbasses like you insult them? No one I can think of. If you're happy the way you look, fine. What if people think you're butt ugly? Did you choose that? I work, my husband works, my parents have worked for like a hundred years. Most everyone I know work and pays taxes. You know what I hate? Stupid people. I just can't stand them. What's worse is ignorant people. Hey, kinda like you! Can you grow a brain and just stop that, please? If you can stop being a pathetic rambling idiot, I'll tell one of my chosen "fat friends" to get off the couch and loose some weight! Deal? |

Why should MY taxes pay for OLD people? It's a fact, they're just going to die anyway, and as you get old things just go more and more wrong. It's just throwing money away!
It's a fact that most old people can't afford health insurance, and use Medicare - government health insurance funded by MY paycheck. I don't want my taxes to pay for the natural consequenses of aging.
Please excuse the sarcasm above.
There IS no universal healthcare in the US. Thank goodness. But that doesn't absolve you of your moral duties to help others. Heck, maybe a little charity would do you good.
Just say to yourself, "Am I my brother's keeper?" |

You should tell the government about this. You should also try to tell all the fat people to try to eat less and excersize more. |

stop hating... because one day, you might come down with cancer, and not be able to pay. Or one of your kids will end up Obese and you won't be able to do anything about it... |

While I dont agree with your delivery I would agree with you in some capacity.
Most people have a hard time paying for the own healthcare never the less someone elses.
Without argument, there are real problems within healthcare however; as a human being I cannot watch one die or suffer becuase they lack coverage. The urgent need is prevention and contols to address healthcare inflation.
At current pace, healthcare is rising 10%+ year over year. This is the real problem. |

Your taxes already do pay for other's poor choices. It's called welfare. Admittedly, I haven't done a lot of research into universal healthcare, but I have read some articles on it and I think it deserves more attention.
Obesity is a tremendous problem in the U.S., and is becoming an issue for other countries. But maybe if we were all being held responsible for our community's choices, we'd be more aware of what was happening around us... and more likely to demand changes. |

Are you suggesting that we should let overweight people suffer, cut down on their food ratio or establish a universal free gym/diet/healthy food program funded by taxpayers?? The last really wouldn't cut you any slack on the tax, if that's what you were hoping for. |

because we need to be there for each other in love, even for others' mistakes. Being fat is being addicted to food. Most people have something that they are addicted to, and which probably causes them problems as a result. Even you might be addicted to something. |

Do you smoke? Drink alcohol? Take non-prescription drugs? Not follow directions for prescribed drugs? Do you eat at fast food restaurants? Do you drive too fast? Do you eat fried foods? Do you eat processed foods? Do you own a pet?
Those would be your judgment calls as well as your assumption that people with weight issues are lazy and contribute nothing towards that same system that would support universal healthcare. As much of a failure as it has shown to be elsewhere, it would still be better for those who are in desperate need of it than to go without. Going without proper healthcare does more than harm them, it forces them to go to work sick, exposing us to disease and forcing people to self-medicate inappropriately, one of the reasons that there are so many bacteria developing a resistance to antibiotics. What would you rather do? Pay your share towards something that may cover you in a catastrophic crisis in your life or let your superiority protect you if and when the next superflu comes along. |

Get over it! Skinny people also make bad choices that raise the cost of health care! Don't dog on just fat people because the healthcare crisis is probably affected the most by people who go to the doctor with a common cold because they can't just deal with it for a few days. Then they insist the doctor prescribe an antibiotic that doesn't help them anyway and that causes bacteria to become resistant to antibacterial treatment. It is a vicious cycle that is not the fault of "fat people."

Well, lets hope you don't come down with some illness down the road that fat people don't want to pay for with their taxes. For what you are dumping on them as bad judgment may be genetic or from people who thought they were cute and just had to keep dumping junk food down them as children. And meds that won't allow them to loose weight no matter how hard they try. Or it could be that starving themselves to death as many thin people do (not all of them) :) was not conducive to being happy. |

You need to change your name and get a new attitude, but on to the question:
Everyone should take responsibility for themselves. If you want to help someone else out (and I encourage everyone to do so), then help them out. Don't use violence (because that's all government really is: organized violence, or at least the threat of it) to force everyone to throw money into wasteful programs just to make yourself feel like you're "doing something." Start thinking instead of just reacting. -yk
P.S. Can I say it again? Vote for Paul. |
