Currently living in California but my husband will be transferring thru work out of state. Will I qualify for unemployment if I am unable to stay at my current job? Would I file in California or in the state we are moving to?
No, you won't qualify - you're voluntarily leaving your employer. Sure, it's because your husband is being transferred - but it's STILL voluntarily leaving your employer.
You won't be able to file in EITHER state.

No. Moving is considered a voluntary action and you will not qualify for unemployment benefits.

This is something I just read about recently and it surprised me.. You probably qualify in this circumstance.
Either state, though I recommend California for the ease of getting records/info if needed. If you moved on your own it would be considered voluntary, but since it's for your husband's job, it isn't.

You do not say what state you are moving to.
I do know of a case where NY paid unemployment to a lesbian in a similar situation, except that she was not married to the other person. I would assume that if they pay unemployment to unmarried homosexuals who move because their lovers have jobs in a new place, the same would apply to married heterosexuals.
I would check what each state's rules are concerning paying unemployment to persons who leave a job because a spouse is relocating, and then file in whichever state is more favorable.

You should contact the Unemployment office for the State you are moving to. They would give you better advice on this issue.
