I had benefits (insurance) from the company I work for this year. I was sick recently and missed the open enrollment period which ended on Friday. Will I still have the same benefits I had this year carry over through 2008 or since I missed the open enrollment period, they will just stop in January 2008 and I'll have no benefits?
Please help. I really need my insurance.

No one here would know, it would depend on how your company does it.
My husband's company, if you miss open enrollment, then you don't get any benefits for your dependents, and your own health coverage drops down to a major medical only - no vision or dental, $10,000 deductible.
Every company can do it differently. |

Check the info they sent you, or talk to your Benefits Dept to be sure. The benefits people might even be able to take your paperwork tomorrow yet.
It's common, but not always, that if you don't send anything in, last year's plan just carries over. |

I just did my enrollment at work this past week. My company would roll the 401k but all of the other stuff would drop if I did not re-elect (health, vision, dental, life).
Call you HR rep tomorrow and find out what your options are; they may be able to get you set up if you were automatically dropped. They should be able to work with the insurance company to at least keep what you had last year. If you are looking for different coverage, they may get into specific underwriting to look at your case.

mbrcatz is right. No one here can tell you.
Some companies will carry over what you had. Others require you to enroll each year and if you don't, assume you wanted to forfeit coverage.

Usually with company insurance, if you don't re-enroll, you get the same benefits that you had. Just have your HR contact the insurance company. It shouldn't be a big deal. |
