Will home owners insurance pay to replace windows?
My windows are really, REALLY old in my house and I heard that home owners insurance might pay for it. Is there something in particular that I need to say?

MSAD
Homeowners insurance pays for sudden and accidental damage to your home. (fire, wind, hail, etc) It does not pay for maintenance items. So if your windows are just old - no - that is not a covered loss.

bud68
No way. That is normal repair work - homeowner's responsibility.

no

No, that's called updating your windows, however, if someone threw a rock through one of them, then it would be covered, minus your deductible.

Home owners insurance does not pay for routine maintenance.

No. Gradual degradation (aka wear-and-tear) is not covered.

No. If they break because of a tree hitting them or something, yes, but it would have a deductible involved. Not replaced because they are old.

~~I haven't ever heard of a policy covering this type of thing. This is just very routine (but expensive) maintenance. Check into rebates with your utilities, you could qualify for those if you replace them with energy efficient ones.~~

Nope. Homeowners doesn't pay for maintenance issues, or for upgrades.

Sorry, that's part of home ownership.
