i parked my car and was away. i received a valid license disk but am out of the country and had no time to get to my car to display this (now my car still has a license disk that expired yesterday).

If the police or traffic wardens see the car then you will get a fine but when you come home you must write back and prove that it was taxed but you were away and hope that you are able to get let off. At the end of the day it is an offence to park a car on a public road without a valid tax so.......... good luck. |

The only time you could get pulled over it is not the current year of the sticker.

depends.. hopefully you will be lucky and they won't bother with it.. but if you live in a permit only area.. and theres a permit on the card, but out of date disc.. the wardens report it normally..
around here they either put a clamp on none taxed cars or lift them and take them to the pound.. IF that happens you will still have to pay the clamp/pound charge.
not being funny, you should have got someone to sort it for ya while away. |

There is no grace period and no amount of excuses will get you let off, the fact your car shows as taxed on the database is irrelivent as the offence is for faliure to DISPLAY a valid Road Fund Licence (Tax Disc) if your vehicle is on a public highway or property deemed as such.
You just better hope it doesn't get noticed.
I could say that i didn't have time to tax, insure or MOT my car but i don't think the judge would go for it if i got caught, you can buy your tax disc WELL in advance so 'no time' wouldn't even come close to being a decent excuse ;) |

You may get a penalty but as long as I can remember it is after 15Th of of following month of your expired disk. And even if you get a penalty you have to send a letter instead of payment with an explanation and I'll give you 99.9% that you will not have to pay |

May sound daft but, the most important question is.. Is it parked on private or public property? Private is fine, as dvla records will have been updated due to your purchase of a new tax disc. However if its in a council maintained/public place then dvla patrols may spot your vehical on a public road and the result is a clamping of your vehical or towing it to their compound. There is also a hefty fine to acompany this.
There won't be any points on your license as its not considered a driving offence as such.
As someone has mentioned, if your car gets clamped or impounded, you can appeal and have a very good chance of not paying a penny. |

Yes it's an £80 fine and two penalty points the same happened to a friend two days ago he thought he had 14 days to get it done. The cops tought him a different lesson.Sorry mate. |

Hi there if you have someone looking after your house while you are away why not ask them to put the new tax disc in the car for you or the other option is to ring up swansea and explain the situation and tell them when you will be returning home they are usually pretty good if you tell them |
