Will i need to file an insurance claim?
An electricity pole by my house fell over last night (no wind or storm just snapped and (iam assuming) caused something to happen with the electricity in my house. My house sitter woke up to no electricity and the tv smoking. he had to use a fire exstinguisher and in the dark made a total mess of my living room. All the appliances in my huse including the hot water heater and new fridge are fried. The electric company showed up and are working. Do i need to contact all state? My local agent is closed on the weekends. If its the elcetric companys fault wont they have to pay to fix everything?

You need to file a claim with Allstate ASAP - I've provided a link below so you can get a phone number to call, and there's even an option there to file your claim online. Even if you file online, I would call anyway.
You're also going to want to file a claim with the Electric Company, as they could be at fault. Allstate will help you with this part if you need it, because if it's possible the fault lies within the Electric Company Allstate will want them to pay.
Stay on top of this - don't let your guard down and take notes on EVERYTHING. Start getting things together to prove the value of your stuff. Remember, you're gonna be dealing with Insurance Companies - you're gonna have to fight for what you deserve.

Yes, definitely file a claim. Your insurance company will be the one to determine fault; that's their job.

However, if you determine that the cost of replacing your appliances is below or close to your deductible, it might not be worth your while; you'd still have to pay out the money, and your insurance rate will go up.

If several unrelated electrical things are fried, they could have momentarily fed you 240 volts, instead of the regular 120. (For techanical reasons, in addition to the neutral line, then run two 120 lines, that are exactly opposite each other; if one of the 120 lines is accidentally connected to the neutral line, then your stuff, which is connected to the neutral line and the other 120 line, gets fried by 240.) This would be their fault. If the problem is purely due to power going out, then the power company does not have to pay you.

All-State may have a national toll free number for weekend claims questions.

File a claim with the electric utility first. You might also want to have an electrician check your house wiring. Your appliances were probably fried by an unbalanced current due to the downed lines. I've seen it happen before.

No, the electric company doesn't pay to fix or replace stuff that gets shorted out. Just the pole falling over doesn't short out your appliances.

Allstate likely has an 800 number you can call, 24 hours, to report claims.

They'll want to meet with you, though, not your house sitter, so you'll have to set something up when you get back from vacation. OH, and tell your house sitter not to throw anything away.
