and then I said | Will insurance cover my boyfriend and I? |
My boyfriend and I are both young (22) and we recently got kicked off of our parent's insurance plans. We want to get insurance together, and were wondering if it is possible to do so? We are not married, but is there a way we can do it as a domestic partnership? Neither one of our offices that we work at offer a health insurance policy, either. We are looking for something affordable that preferrably includes dental, medical, and vision.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Even names of reliable insurance companies would be great. Thanks in advance! |

This varies with companies, but it usually doesn't reduce your premium payment. Contact a local independant agent in your area to get many different plans and benefits. He/she will be able to help you choose the best plan for your particular financial and medical needs.
Choosing your own plans will also cause no problems in coverage if at some point you both decide to go your own way. I am not saying this will happen, but just another point to consider. |

Most policies state that you must be living together for 1 year before you can both be on a policy. Go to flexcare. I seen the commercials. Good coverage. Go to coverme.com and pick your own plan based on what you want covered. |

You might be able to get a policy together without being married if you live together. Different insurance companies might have different rules about that kind of stuff.
The best thing to do is to call a couple companies and ask them what their policy is on that. You should be able to find an affordable policy if you do your research. Don't settle for the first health insurance company you talk to. |

Yes it is possible, but it may be much cheaper for YOU if you get your own. Males under 25 are considered HIGH RISK & therefore are charged an extremely high rate compared to females. You going on a policy with him won't be cheaper for him, only more expensive for you. |

I don't know of any private policies that will allow that. Most group policies, won't do it either, unless your state requires it.
Medical is always seperate from dental and vision. And, fyi, private policies don't usually cover maternity. Price wise, for a low deductible plan, you're looking at $200 per month, per person. Might be worth finding a different job. |

you need to look for better jobs with health insurance - don;t get pregnant without it - could cost you $10-15000 to have a baby anymore. Vision plans aren't worth it if you have to pay the premium yourself - the insurance alone might cost as much as a pair of glasses and they usually don't pay very much of your costs anyway - my work only pays $100 every other year towards glasses and 440 for one eye exam every other year - my glasses (bifocals, cost over 4300 for 2 pair -to get me thru 2 yrs, before their $100 reimbursement) |
