i got into an accident in the school parking lot. me and this other girl backed up at the same time and hit each other. my rear bumper probably needs to be replaced. it is hanging down and once i snapped it back in its still loose. she has dents and scratches above her one rear wheel. will my insurance pay? also, am i at fault? i think we both backed up at the same time except her car was vertical (she may have even had it in drive already) and mine was still at an angle and in reverse. but i know it was clear when i pulled out so she must have done it really fast.
i am also 17 so will my rate go up a lot? |

Sounds like you both were at fault. It will most probably be reported as a 50-50% accident. Not sure what state you are in, but in CA, as long as your % of fault is less than 51%, youre not considered at fault.
Having that said, you will most probably have to file the claim with your insurance company through your collision deductible.
Get an appraisal on the damage and see if its worth the claim. Payout will be minus your deductible. Then file a claim w your insurance company.
If your damage is less tha $750 and no bodily injury is involved, than your rate will not increase at renewal. If however its more, than yes, you will be looking at a rate increase. No rough figure since % increase depends on your insurance company, and type of claim and amount of payout. |

since it happened on private property did you get a report from the police? if not just turn it over and see what happens. Now as to will they pay that depends on coverage. will your rates increase oh yes since you have had an accident whether at fault or not |

1st -Always call police-no matter who's fault. It provides record of accident.
2nd call insurance company to report accident, not who was at fault.
Some insurance companies have a no-fault clause and pay, and your ins. does not go up..
I learned in insurance school, NEVER admit guilt. NEVER say you are sorry, that is admitting guilt. Ask if OK? It is harder for other party to prove it was your fault. There needs to be proof.
Do you have full coverage? your ins co should help you fix your car after deductable is met. Any points you get fall off in later years and it can take a year to see increase if any in rates.
or just liability? That only helps you pay for another person's car/injuries
I learned the hard way NO MATTER WHAT have full coverage.
