peaches6 | Will my car insurance payment get there on time? |
I mailed my payment today and it's due 12:01am, Sunday, 9/16, Philadelphia. Do you think it'll get there on time? What if the office is closed on Saturday? |
|

Your payment will probably not arrive at the company tomorrow unless you are mailing from a suburb of Philadelphia and most insurance companies do not post payments on Saturday. However, when it comes to payments like this the majority of insurance companies will look at the postmark date which in your case should be today since you stated that you mailed it today. So you should be okay. Just to be on the safe side call the customer service department or your insurance agent tomorrow and have them notate your account that you already mailed it in & ask them what their specific policy is with regards to payments, do they accept postmark dates.
If you can avoid it, try not to do this again can since you are just making stress for yourself and tying yourself up in knots.
Good Luck |

You have not stated what city you are from in order to calculate a time to Philadelphia. You should probably call the insurance company and give them the check number and the date you mailed it so they can record it in their system. That way they do not accidently cancel you. Insurance companies vary in their policy cancellations. Some will do it immediately while others will give you a grace period. Your best bet is to contact them and let them know. |

Probably but I would hedge my bets and phone them to let them know its on the way.
Most insurance companies will let youi pay online which might be another option for you
Prepaid credit cards , which hold only so much money on them can be purchased at many department stores and western union offices to use on the internet if you are hesitant to use a credit card online because of security.. |

My advice - send the check one day, signature verified, or wire the money there. |

Don't worry.
It'll be in the Phila post office Sunday, and would be delivered on the 3rd day, which would be Sunday. Since Sunday is not a business day, ,they'll have it first thing Monday. |

Good Question?
You can visit your local US Post Office online www.usps.com
Or the local physical office and give them the Zip Codes from where you mailed the payment and the destination.
They can tell you how long it would take to arrive to the location>?
Was it sent to a Lock Box Number? US Post Office Box?
You didn't state above in your Question where you are located to actually answer your question.
Most remittances to Insurance Companies are processed by there Bank through a Lock Box and USPO Box Address.
You can also contact the Insurance Company to give them your Checking Account Number and Routing Number over the phone to make the payment by phone.
The other option for the future is to use a FREE Bill Pay Service through your Bank.
Its fast EZ and convenient?

No, it won't get there on time.
If the insurance company doesn't honor postmarks, the payment will count as either late (if it's the due date) or the policy will cancel (if it's the cancellation date). |

The first thing is Sunday is not a trading Day, so it would carry over till Monday.
If in Australia it can take three days for interstate, or if you pay for over night it would need to be posted at a post office to have a chance and it again depends on the mail handlers.
But here we are in 2007, you no how to use a computer ?
Why didn't you use BPay?
or Pay Pal , Western Union?, if you use the way of paying your bills, you get a receipt then you can ring your Insurance Company quote receipt Number, and they have to except that as paid.
Now wouldn't that save you a lot of worry?. |
