Will my seat-blet ticket effect my insurance?
My old cars seatbelt is out of order but since I was getting late for work I couldnt wait for my husband to drop me off in his car. Thats when I was pulled over and slapped a $25.00 fine for not wearing a seatbelt. Can you please tell me if this will raise my insurance? Is there any way to ensure my insurance will remain the same?

Thank you.

If it is a city/township ticket it is the same as a parking ticket so your insurance will never know about it.
Pay the fine and forget it.

If the state gives you the ticket it is considered a moving violation and the fine is usually much higher than $25.
Then, depending on whether you fight or plead guilty and your states ways of dealing with a moving violation, your insurance might be notified.

No, you don't get points on that

If it's not considered a moving violation in your state, probably not.

It won't raise your insurance, it counts as a simple traffic ticket.

It's actually an infraction ticket. Make sure you do pay it though, because if you don't, you could end up with a license suspension, then it will be very costly to get out of.

I would go to court and see if the judge will give you leniency! Especially, if you have a near perfect driving record. I am not sure what the court cost would be but it's worth a shot because you could end up paying lots more for 3 years or how long your company let's it ride for. In Maryland it usually does for 3 years. I wouldn't open up a can of worms and come right out and ask your agent! Try calling another company or two and act like you are potentially a new customer and ask them before giving out any personal data. If they do then chances are that your Insurance will as well. Hopefully you will have a good driving history that will negate the ill effect of a seat belt ticket. I hope it all works out in your favor!
