Will the insurance company pay to fix a rusty roof on a car?
No. Rust is specifically excluded on an auto policy.
The things a policy covers are usually spelled out clearly: collision, upset, theft, vandalism, broken glass, falling objects, flood, contact with an animal, etc.

I highly doubt that rusting is a covered peril on your policy. I've never heard of a company that covers it. It is considered normal wear and tear.
JimmyV
Probably not since rust is not due to an accident or intentional damage by someone else (vandalism). The only way to find out for sure is to call your insurance company and ask them.
Aye. Right!
Nope. Vehicle maintenance is not covered by motor insurance. Also, keep in mind that your motor insurance only covers your vehicle IF it is in a legal and roadworthy condition. If the rust is bad enough to fail an MOT, then your insurance is automatically null and void.

Not unless its due to an accident or vandalism.

No, absolutely not.
Maintaining the vehicle is YOUR job, not the insurance company's!

I doubt the rusty roof is a legitimate insurance claim. Depending on the vintage of the auto, you might have a claim with the vehicle manufacturer.
